How Hyundai Is Helping Furloughed Federal Workers

So you just bought your new Hyundai and you're ready to make payments, until you lose your job.

Unfortunately, this awful situation has become a reality for furloughed federal workers due to the recent government shutdown. Although signs are promising that the shutdown will end shortly, nothing is guaranteed and, as the shutdown continues, the reality for these workers will only continue to get worse. Along with house payments, food and credit card debt - we think car payments are the last thing they want to worry about. Luckily, Hyundai is here to lend a helping hand.

Hyundai is launching a payment deferral plan for those who aren't working due to the government shutdown. Any existing auto loan or lease payments for furloughed Hyundai drivers will be extended during the shutdown. Like Hyundai Assurance - a similar program launched during the recession - this plan will come as a great relief to those who are worried about making their payments.

"We recognize the impact on family budgets that the furlough will drive," says John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, in a statement. "Like we did almost four years ago when we launched Hyundai Assurance, this is our way of saying 'We've got your back' during this uncertain time."

Even with great financing, it's understandable that car payments can become a hassle during something as random and unfortunate as a government shutdown. But rest assured, in events like these, Hyundai has your back!
